Lena Santana

Lena Santana is a designer who is based in London but was born in Salvador / Brazil and lived in Rio de janeiro before moving to London / Uk where she studied fashion design. At the moment she is focusing on the using of vintage fabrics and "transforming them into beautifully fitting, conceptual garments with a twist of modern couture" (www.lenasantana.com/).
At the wear is art exhibit she is presenting a special piece which fascinated me and the model who was wearing it. The pattern of the shoes and of the short jumpsuit remembered me of the skin of reptiles. Above that she is wearing a garment which could be inspired by a tailcoat and is made from a fabulous fabric. The entire outfit has a lot of details and for me it is an extraordinary outfit with a style of modern couture.

vernissage "Wear is Art" part II

As I've already mentioned I did I miss the first performance of the evening. I've tried to enjoy the second performance but the gallery was so full that just had the chance see some parts of the show. But the show was also shown in the w.w.w by live-stream (http://www.ustream.tv/channel/wear-is-art) and this stream was projected to a wall in the yard in front of the Dam Stuhltrager Project Space. The performance by Hedo Lux (www.hedolux.com) was just extraordinary. The man in the silver body suit and the high-heels had sexy and mystical charism.
The evening was inspired by fetish and you had the chance to take a closer look at some dazzling character. And so also the guests were very variegated.

A special moment of the evening was the performance of Pelin Pelin a singer and performance artist from London. The guests enjoyed the rough voice combined with the soul music inspired by hip hop and pop. I had the chance to meet her for a short moment and took a photo of her charming smile.
It was a international, successful and especially colorful vernissage with some great artists. So check out the exhibit:

vernissage "Wear is Art"

Here are some first shots from the vernissage of the "Wear is Art" exhibit.
It was a colorful opening with a amazing mix of art, fashion and music.
I was a little to late but at the time I arrived at the Dam Stuhtrager Project Space the small backyard and the gallery were overcrowded. I missed the first act of the Vernissage Event “DAMTATAC” ® ( Couture Fashion Installation & Performance, Curated / Art Direction by: Daria Marchik in collaboration with Tata Christiane Couture and Katya Bochavar Textile Art).
But I had a chance to partially watch the second act..... more about my evening there later....
